Bigg Market toilets WILL get a new lease of life -

as a 'niche, subterranean' bar The former loos,

in Newcastle city centre, form a key part of

regeneration ambitions for the historic Bigg Market

A Newcastle City Council spokesperson said

"We can confirm the premises licence application for a new wine bar

in the old Bigg Market toilets was granted subject to conditions.

"The application was approved on the basis that the historic toilets

would be turned into a niche wine bar with a high quality operating

style to compliment the council's exciting plans to reinvigorate the Bigg Market."
